Lori Bumpus

Where are you from:

I am Illinois born and raised!

Insurance Background:

My career in insurance began in 1987 when I started work at what was then the David Cooper Insurance Agency. In 2005 I became the principal owner of what is now the Cooper-Bumpus Insurance Agency.

Family:

My husband and I have two adult daughters, a son-in-law, and multiple furry grandbabies which we love!

Hobbies:

If keeping busy and on the go is a hobby, then that is MY hobby! In those rare moments of free time I can be found planning a redecorating scheme for one or more rooms of my home or office. I love to paint and decorate – never let the look of a room get stale!

Interests:

Community involvement is a main focus for me and my family—I have participated in the planning and execution of numerous community events, boards, and committees. We feel it is important to give back to the community and to be involved in any possible way to help Charleston be a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Random Fact About You That Most People Don’t Know:

In high school I spent 7 years as the school’s marching band majorette.

Your Favorite Place to Vacation/or Somewhere You Have Always Dreamed of Going:

I love extended vacations in Florida, no place I would rather be...

Shannon Craft

Where are you from:

I am 100% Charleston, Illinois, born and raised!!

Insurance Background:

I joined the cooper Agency in 2002 and shortly after I became licensed in property/casualty and life/health. In 2005 the Cooper Agency became the Cooper-Bumpus Insurance Agency but regardless of the name, this agency has always been my insurance home. I can’t imagine myself being anywhere else!

Family:

We should call it “FULL HOUSE”! Our family includes my two adult daughters who are both college students studying different areas of the medical field, my pre-school aged son, as well as a stepson and daughter who are both under the age of 10. We are definitely a full house. Have Mercy!

Hobbies:

From early spring to late fall you will find me every weekend scouring rummage sales, backyard sales, and flea markets for the ultimate bargain find—it may border on an obsession but is also a time that I spend with my mother and my girls so that makes it family time as well. I’m not sure if this qualifies as a hobby or an interest or just plain being a fanatic—my DVR has a permanent setting for Sunday evenings 8:00, The Walking Dead, ……..If you want to talk to me, don’t call between 8-9 on Sunday evenings, it’s going straight to voice mail!

Interests:

80’s Metal Music: Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Guns N’ Roses! Today’s kids have no idea what they missed. Will be attending my second Def Leppard concert this coming summer and I can’t wait!

Random Fact About You That Most People Don’t Know:

I have read the complete Twilight series; not once, not twice, not three—count them FOUR TIMES! And I would read the books again if I had time.

Your Favorite Place to Vacation/or Somewhere You Have Always Dreamed of Going:

As a child I traveled to Texas every summer with my grandmother and I always looked forward to those trips, I cherish those memories. As an adult, my dream would be an Italian vacation.

Jeanette Clark

Where are you from:

I was born and raised in Illinois and never lived outside of the Illinois borders. My family moved to Coles County in 2003 from the Peoria area.

Insurance Background:

My first career was teaching at the post-secondary level. When I retired from education and moved to Charleston, I started working at Cooper-Bumpus and became a licensed agent.

Family:

My husband and I have two adult children who both live out of state along with our 5 grandchildren, including a set of 4-year-old twins.

Hobbies:

Preserving family memories thru scrapbooking is my passion, it allows me to be creative and at the same time provide a family history of events and stories for future generations long after I am gone.

Interests:

Anyone who knows me will tell you the same thing—“She is fanatical about Fighting Illini sports”. My husband and I have had football season tickets for 40 years, basketball not quite as long due to logistics of traveling from where we previously lived, but we currently stand at 16 years. We consider ourselves to be master tailgaters and our family rule is: No engagements, weddings, or babies from September 1 to March 31! GO ILLINI!

Random Fact About You That Most People Don’t Know:

For about 13 years I was the head scout for our local high school football team. I never saw our team play but I could tell you everything you needed to know about our upcoming opponents. To this day I can diagram a play from scrimmage as well as anyone (hint hint Love Smith) During state playoffs, coaches from several surrounding schools would offer to pay me to prepare scouting reports for them on possible opponents.

Your Favorite Place to Vacation/or Somewhere You Have Always Dreamed of Going:

We like to travel, picking one place as my favorite is difficult. I visit Disney World regularly with my grandchildren and one day I would love to do a solo trip. But my favorite vacation destinations would be a tossup between Germany and Italy. One day, my next bucket list trip, is Greece.

Helena VanTassel

Where are you from:

I was born in the Sun Devil State, Arizona. In 1978 I moved with my family to Coles County.

Insurance Background:

My employment background is not even remotely related to insurance, but Lori lured me away from my last employer to join the staff here at Cooper Bumpus in April of 2019. Insurance is a new environment and a new challenge, which I openly and whole-heartedly embrace with excitement and enthusiasm! “Let me quote your insurance”!

Family:

Don’t tell me that high school romances never last; mine has endured 25 plus years. Yes, I married my high school sweetie, and we have three children; ages 25, 22, and17. Our son is married and recently became a father to his first child, a son—this also made me a first-time grandmother.

Hobbies:

Being a wife, a mom, and now a grandmother, plus working full-time at a new job leaves little time for pursuits of hobbies and enjoyment. However, IF, I were to ever have extra time I would love to find a comfy spot in the sunlight, just for a few hours, to sit and read. Mysteries, biographies and true crime stories are my books of choice. Mix a sunny reading spot with a weekend of camping, walking trails, and sightseeing in the wilderness and you have my perfect weekend! When I can’t be out in the fresh air, you will find my any night of the week watching Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, or any television show featuring animals. Animals are my second love; my dream would be to own a ranch for foster animals.

Random Fact About You That Most People Don’t Know:

I have always been told that I am a natural care giver, it is that characteristic that led my family to become a foster family for approximately for years.

Your Favorite Place to Vacation/or Somewhere You Have Always Dreamed of Going:

Our family does not travel a great deal, but the two things I would love to do is visit every state at least once and then I would love to spend an entire week somewhere on the beach. (You can be sure there will be a good mystery novel tucked into my beach bag)!!
